Thinking about books

For school, I keep a journal about the books I read. Reading is fun! I keep my journal because I want to remember all the things about the books and all the things that I thought about them. Here are some of my thoughts from my journal about a few books I've read so far:

Abel's Island
by William Steig
Abel is a mouse. He gets swept down a river and then he gets stuck on an island. This is a real adventure story! I liked it a lot. (My favorite part is the end, but I'm not going to tell you that part. You have to read it yourself if you want to know.)

Harry Potter and Sorcerer's Stone
by J.K. Rowling
I liked the book even better than I liked the movie because the book explained more about the story. In the book, they did all the spells that guard the sorcerer's stone, but they didn't do all that in the movie.

The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe
by C.S. Lewis
This book reminded me of Harry Potter because Harry did not know about magic. Neither did Lucy, Edmund, Susan or Peter, who are the kids in The Lion, the Witch & The Wardrobe.

Charlotte's Web
by E.B. White
Charlotte's Web is about a pig and a spider who have a few major problems. I loved this book. It told a really good story about how even if you are small, you can still do big things.

Please leave me a note in the comments if you think of some other books that I might like. Thanks!

Hi Gabrielle! You won't remember me, but back in the olden days your dad and I were co-workers. I like your blog very much. Because of you, I went out and learned what a feedreader is. :)
I especially enjoy books by William Steig because the words he uses are so evocative -- strange and juicy and making images in my mind. You might also enjoy an old book called The Children of Green Knowe. It's about magic, too, in a more hidden way. It's my favorite book to read while anticipating Christmas.
Congratulations on the blog!
